Overview
Embark on a captivating winter trekking journey through Morocco's southwest region, discovering the mesmerizing landscapes of the Anti Atlas in Tafraout. This area is characterized by rugged rock formations, fortified Kasbahs, terraced valleys, and hidden oases. With fewer tourists in this part of Morocco, you'll have the trails mostly to yourselves as you delve into the heart of the red granite massif. Marvel at sensational sunsets, where the rocks transform from orange to red to violet as they reflect the light. Encounter Berber villages and meet the proud inhabitants of this ancient and arid land, whose livelihoods revolve around herding sheep and goats. Explore the commanding village fortresses of the Anti Atlas, marveling at their dry stone construction and intricately carved doors and porches. This superb 5-day trek takes you through palm-filled gorges, across high passes, and culminates in a breathtaking view from the airy ridge of Jebel Lekst at 2360m, where you can admire the snow-capped summits around Mount Toubkal. Whether you're a first-time trekker or an experienced adventurer seeking new horizons, the Anti Atlas offers an ideal winter destination for mountain walking.
Note: This trip can also be organized in reverse direction, starting from Marrakech and heading to Tafraout.
